What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring constituent of industrial hemp/cannabis. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is being scientifically investigated for various reasons.

CBD oil is a cannabis oil (whether derived from marijuana or industrial hemp, as the word cannabis is the latin genus name for both) that has significant amounts of cannabidiol (CBD) contained within it. Hemp derived oil has virtually no THC content (<0.3%), which means that its psychoactive properties are negligible - people won't get high' or feel stoned' from using Aviator Farms CBD oil.

Cannabidiol (CBD), is one of the two most abundant cannabinoids in most medical and recreational marijuana strains.  CBD is non-psychoactive, it does not give you that 'high' or 'stoned' feeling; however, it does seem to make pain more tolerable and acts as an anti-inflammatory. CBD also has shown some promise when it comes to seizures, psychotic disorders and anxiety disorders. We will discuss all 3 of these things below:

The first thing we must discuss is what cannabidiol (CBD) actually does for your body, followed by how it can be used as medicine.

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, meaning it doesn't produce the high feeling often associated with marijuana use. CBD works its medicinal magic primarily via interacting with the body's own endocannabinoid system, a complex system that contributes to a variety of biological processes like inflammation responses and pain management.

Although we are still learning about CBD, we know that it impacts the way our bodies interact with different types of cannabinoids – such as those found in cannabis or hemp oils. In simple terms, these types of cannabinoids plug into certain receptors in our cells called cannabinoid receptor sites; there are two main types of cannabinoid receptor sites, CB1 and CB2. The best studied of these at this point is CB1, which is found mainly in the brain, but also in the liver, pancreas and kidneys – CBD interacts with CB1 receptor sites to make changes to how our body operates.

We have a very good understanding that CBD has analgesic (pain relieving), anti-inflammatory and anti-psychotic effects – however we don't fully understand all the ways that CBD can impact your health yet. Scientist are working hard on finding all the benefits of CBD and the endocannabinoid system.  Although, in general, CBD is safe for human consumption in the amounts found in foods, creams and oils.

There are seemingly endless CBD oil uses for example, CBD benefits include reducing & soothing anxiety, helping with migraines, chronic pain, sleep, inflammation and/or overall heath and wellness.
